Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have one of the most infamous Hollywood love stories. What started out as two of the most respected and beloved actors of their time working together laid the foundation for a love affair that would last well over 10 years, include six children, and a number of collaborative projects.
It’s hard to believe it’s been 15 years since Brad and Angie fell in love on the set of the action-packed 2005 film Mr. & Mrs. Smith, where the two first met. Of course, there was so much media scrutiny around the two, and as their relationship continued to blossom, fan interest continued to pique. So let’s go back to the beginning of this Hollywood love story.
Back in 2005, a little movie came out that would become the catalyst for Brad and Angie’s relationship. In 2005’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith the future couple played husband and wife with a mission to try and assassinate the one another! Now, that wouldn’t instantly sound like a recipe for romance, but for Brad and Angie their time on set and working together really brought them closer. At the time, Brad was still married to Friends star Jennifer Aniston. But by the time the filmed had wrapped and speculation swirled around Brad and Angie, the actor’s five-year marriage to Jen was all but over. Soon, Jennifer filed for divorce from Brad, giving him the freedom to pursue Angie.
Just one year into their romance, Brad and Angie were expecting their first biological child together. In May 2006, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt (now 14 years old) was born, making the clan a family of five — including Brad and Angie’s adopted children Maddox, now 19, and Zahara, now 15. In March 2007, Angie adopted Pax, 16, and Brad become the young child’s legal, adoptive father in February 2008. Family was always so important to the Jolie-Pitts, and while the couple shielded their youngsters from the limelight, as they got older, they did make a few more appearances at premieres and special events!
As Brad and Angie’s profile began to rise, they quickly became the most well-known couple of the late 2000s. The two were nearly always by one another’s side, supporting each other at awards shows, premieres and more. Here, the couple appeared together at 2008 Spirit Awards. Despite the scrutiny placed on their relationship at the beginning, the couple really showed fans, admirers, and anyone who doubted that they could make it work how much they adored one another, and how dedicated they were to their union.
By July 2008, Brad and Angie welcomed their twins, Vivienne and Knox, 12, just a few years after the birth of Shiloh. Since they were always committed to each other, it never crossed the minds of Brad or Angelina — coined “Brangelina” by the press — to become husband and wife. In fact, the two shirked marriage and simply remained steadfast and dedicated to one another. But that changed a few short years later!
In 2014, the former couple wed at the Château Miraval estate in Correns, France. It was such a beautiful, intimate ceremony that heavily involved the couple’s children. Unfortunately, the marriage wouldn’t last long. Just two years later, in 2016, the couple decided to go their separate ways, and became locked in a heated legal battle over the custody of their children that has continued to this day! The most recent development that has come to light includes Angie trying to have the judge presiding over their case removed. Plus, Brad has seemingly found a new lady love in his life with model Nicole Poturalski.
In Feb. 2021, Brad sued Angie after she sold her 50% share in Chateau Miraval to Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler. The Lara Croft actress supposedly did not seek permission from her ex for the sale. Per documents, Brad is looking to undo Angie’s deal and is seeking damages for the move. Brad claimed in the filing that the two had an agreement that neither could sell their portion without permission from the other party. “[Angelina] is seeking a return on an investment she did not make and profits she did not earn,” a source close to Brad alleged to HollywoodLife.
