DMX‘s hometown of New York will hold a memorial service for the late rapper on April 24. It comes just a couple of weeks after the legendary musician died on April 9 at the age of 50. He suffered a heart attack one week prior, and sadly never recovered. He will be mourned at a memorial attended by family and close friends at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Here’s everything we know about the service.
The “Celebration of Life Memorial” will take place at 4pm ET on Saturday, April 24. A private funeral and “Homegoing Celebration” will also be held the following day, Sunday April 25, at an undisclosed church in New York.
The “Celebration of Life Memorial” will be live-streamed on YouTube on Saturday at 4pm. His funeral and “Homegoing Celebration” will air on BET on Sunday at 2.30pm ET. Coverage will also air on BET’s YouTube channel.
One week later, a rep for the musician said in a statement that DMX had passed away. “We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days,” the statement read. “Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end. He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him.” Here’s everything we know about a possible memorial. Our thoughts are with DMX’s friends, family and fans.
